Who’s Ready for a Post-COVID Kysse?

istock 1224662540 We all want lips that are plump, shapely and ultimately kissable. Reality is…not so much. Most of us never had the lips we see on movie stars. Plus, as we age our lips thin, lose color, and develop vertical lines.

Injecting thin, shapeless lips with dermal fillers isn’t a new idea, but most of us aren’t interested in over-plumped, showy, awards show lips. If we’re going to add some volume to our lips, we want subtle shape and volume, and we want your old lip color back.

That sounds as if you then need to stop by our offices on Johnnie Dodds Boulevard because at AesthetiSpa, we now offer Restylane Kysse. What better way to say goodbye to this dumb COVID virus than getting ready for serious smooching with your new, beautiful lips?

What is Restylane Kysse?

Restylane Kysse is the newest addition to the popular Restylane line of dermal fillers. Kysse is a clear injectable gel composed of hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring sugar in the human body that is responsible for hydrating and plumping the skin. It does this by binding with nearby water molecules.

Restylane Kysse is specifically meant for use on the lips. Once injected, Kysse adds fullness to the lips, and it helps smooth wrinkles on and above the upper lip (perioral or barcode lines).

How is Restylane Kysse different?

OK, so lip fillers aren’t anything new. What’s different about this new offering from Restylane? Galderma, the company that makes Restylane, says it’s how Kysse keeps your lips looking natural. The company says Kysse is the first dermal filler to be equipped with Optimal Balance Technology, also known as XpressHAn Technology. This technology enables Kysse to integrate into the tissues in the injected areas to achieve a more natural look.

Like all Restylane fillers, Kysse is a hyaluronic acid filler. Hyaluronic acid’s job is to plump and hydrate the skin. In the other Restylane fillers, hyaluronic acid accomplishes this by binding with nearby water molecules.

XpressHAn Technology changes this slightly, which is important in the lips because our lips have so many nerves. Sometimes lip fillers like Silk, Voluma (Juvéderm) or Volbella (Juvéderm) can have a tendency to feel a bit uncomfortable or be difficult to get used to. They can create a feeling there is something attached to your lips.

Kysse is different. Galderma says the XpressHAn Technology makes it feel more natural. This is because the hyaluronic acid in Kysse is bound to itself, so it stretches, and then goes back to its prior space. What does this mean? When you’re talking, smiling, or kissing, it has the ability to integrate into the tissue where it’s injected and mold to it. This makes Kysse quite seamless with your lips.
