Nothing is quite as attractive as great-looking skin! AesthetiSpa uses the latest, most advanced techniques in microdermabrasion. This skin resurfacing procedure helps diminish imperfections of the skin such as fine lines, sun damage, and acne scarring.
What Is Microdermabrasion?
Our microdermabrasion treatment is a medical technique for removing the topmost layer of skin leaving it supple and vibrant. The wand removes this layer of skin by gently abrading the skin with natural diamond chips while at the same time vacuuming the dead skin cells away in a sterile and controlled manner. Removing this outer layer of skin leaves a smoother texture and promotes new cell growth.
What Skin Issues Does Microdermabrasion Address?
At AesthetiSpa we use DiamondTome microdermabrasion for a variety of skin problems. Microdermabrasion…
- Reduces fine lines and wrinkles
- Removes sun-damaged skin
- Reduces age spots
- Reduces hyperpigmentation
- Improves acne and acne scars
- Reduces enlarged pores
Benefits Of DiamondTome Skin Resurfacing
At AesthetiSpa, we use the DiamondTome Skin Resurfacing System. Our system does not use crystals or other loose abrasives with adverse effects. It also does not contaminate the patient or the environment. The DiamondTome is a wonderful alternative to chemical peels because it is non-invasive, non-surgical and requires no down time after treatment. You will be able to return to normal activities immediately following treatment.
Who Is A Candidate For Microdermabrasion?
Microdermabrasion is completely non-invasive and non-ablative. It can be used on all skin colors and skin types. It doesn’t cause hyperpigmentation, as more ablative procedures sometimes do. Just about everyone could use microdermabrasion at AesthetiSpa to brighten their complexion and improve their skin quality. We could all use a little more exfoliation on our facial skin.
What To Expect From Microdermabrasion
Patients experience softer, smoother, cleaner skin after the first treatment. Treatment series vary from 6-12 sessions depending on the type of skin and the desired results.
Are There Any Side Effects After Microdermabrasion?
Because we use DiamondTome microdermabrasion, which have natural diamond chips embedded in the tip, this lowers the already minimal risk involved with these treatments. Some people can have a reaction to the microscopic crystals that are sprayed across the facial skin, but we don’t use that method at AesthetiSpa.
These treatments at AesthetiSpa are completely non-invasive and don’t require any recovery. There isn’t any risk of infection or the like, as only the outer epidermis is exfoliated. These are not deep penetrating procedures (in contrast to laser resurfacing or a medium chemical peel, for instance), and they don’t remove large amounts of skin. You may have some light peeling and your skin may feel a little tight for a day or so after your treatment, but a good moisturizer is all you need. There won’t be any crusting or downtime.
Is Microdermabrasion Painful?
Our microdermabrasion treatments are painless yet effective. The degree of effectiveness is controlled by a widely adjustable vacuum in conjunction with varying coarseness of wands. Because exfoliation occurs only as the wand is drawn across the skin, and there are no crystals being blasted against the skin, our system is regarded as gentler than other systems, even at the highest settings.
What Should I Do To Prepare For Microdermabrasion?
There isn’t much you need to do to prepare for these treatments. But you don’t want to use Retin-A or other exfoliators for 3-5 days before your treatment. As with most skin improvement treatments, it’s best to not have had sun exposure or spray tans for at least a week prior to your session.
If you’ve had laser skin treatments or chemical peels, you should wait at least three weeks before having microdermabrasion. If you’ve been on Accutane, you’re not eligible for these treatments until you’ve been off of it for at least 6 months, and then we can discuss this as an option for you.
What Is The Procedure Like?
Before we begin the procedure, we clean your skin with a special cleansing gel. Our aesthetician slowly moves the diamond-tipped wand across your entire face, instantly vacuuming off the abraded dead skin cells. The degree of exfoliation is determined by the amount of suction employed and the number of passes made over the skin surface. The treatment takes from 20-30 minutes for the face. If you want to treat other areas such as the neck, your session may last up to an hour. Because microdermabrasion only targets the superficial layer of the skin, topical numbing isn’t necessary.

How Soon Can I Go Back To Work After Microdermabrasion?
You can return to work or any other normal activities immediately after your session. The only thing you can’t do is go out in the sun without protection.
Is There Recovery After A Microdermabrasion Session?
There isn’t any recovery or downtime after a DiamondTome microdermabrasion session at AesthetiSpa, but you need to remember that removing the outer layer of your epidermis leaves your skin unprotected to a degree. Be kind to your skin afterwards, as it will be a little sensitive with the top layer exfoliated. Don’t use harsh cleansers, and don’t use a home exfoliator for a week. Your skin will be more exposed, so stay out of the sun for a week. If you’re using prescription retinoid products, wait until one week to resume them.
Results After Microdermabrasion
Your skin may look slightly flushed immediately after the treatment but should return to normal in 10-30 minutes. Your skin will look and feel smoother and more youthful, even after your first treatment, and will continue to improve with additional treatments.
How Long Will My Results Last After Microdermabrasion?
The results from your microdermabrasion usually last about one month. That is the cycle for your skin to fully regenerate.
