Who Is A Candidate For Treatment With Excel V?

If you are concerned with veins, rosacea, or any other condition listed here, you may be an excellent candidate for Excel V treatment. The built-in cooling mechanism may negate the need for topical anesthetic, which makes this laser treatment suitable even if you have a low pain threshold. Adjustable settings on the device allow us to customize treatment to every individual without diminishing accuracy or compromising outcome.

Excel V has been proven safe and effective for all Fitzpatrick skin type classifications, ranging from very light to very dark. Depending on skin type, the device can be adjusted to a 532nm wavelength or a 1064nm mode.

Is The Excel V Laser Painful?

During Excel V treatment, quick pulses of light are fired to penetrate the uppermost layer of the epidermis. Patients describe the sensation as a rubber band snapping against the skin. Because laser energy can heat the dermis, the device has a built-in cooling feature to maintain comfort and safety. If you are concerned about pain tolerance, speak with our staff during your consultation. We will make every effort to ensure your treatment is as comfortable as possible.

Skin Treatment With Laser Light

A thorough consultation and skin assessment are performed to determine if Excel V treatment is the most appropriate approach to achieve the desired outcome.

The treatment appointment is conducted in the office and is usually complete within 15 to 30 minutes because there is no wait time to allow topical anesthetic to get absorbed. Before commencing with treatment, protective eye goggles are applied to both the patient and the provider. Spot size and depth of penetration are selected based on the treatment area and extent of discoloration or broken blood vessels. The handpiece is held against the skin and, within the spot guide, laser light is pulsed to break up the pigment or treat the blood vessels that are causing concern. Comfort is maintained via the built-in cooling mechanism.

Is There Any Downtime After Excel V Treatment?

There is typically little downtime after Excel V treatment although swelling and bruising may be noticeable the day after treatment. There are a few guidelines that you should follow after treatment:

  • Wash your face with a gentle cleanser and delicate motion, no rubbing.
  • Moisturizer can be applied the day of treatment.
  • Avoid hot showers, saunas, excessive sweating, and hot tubs for 48 hours after treatment.
  • Protect your skin from UV exposure by wearing broad-spectrum sunscreen and a hat.
  • Avoid chemical peels, microdermabrasion, and potentially irritating skin treatments for 1 week.
  • Some dark spots may worsen before they fade away.
  • Your skin may feel sunburned for a few days.
  • You can wear makeup if the skin is not broken.

Results After Laser Skin Rejuvenation

The results from Excel V treatment can last years depending on factors including your genetic tendencies and sun care habits. Patients who undergo treatment for mild to moderate rosacea may need a series of treatments initially and then obtain touch up treatments every 1 to 3 years since rosacea can’t be cured and only controlled. Excel V for distinct vein issues may achieve permanent results. During your consultation, your provider can estimate the potential for lasting results based on the findings of your personal skin assessment.

Should Excel V Be Combined With Any Skin Care Products To Improve Results?

Your provider can discuss the best products to use at home after your Excel V treatment and when appropriate products can be applied to the skin. Immediately after treatment, skin care may be limited to mild cleansers, moisturizers, and sunscreen only.
