Exfoliate with our Diamond-Tip Microdermabrasion

Unlike microdermabrasion procedures that utilize tiny crystals, at AesthetiSpa we use a diamond-tip microdermabrasion technique. Our Medical Director, Dr. Christy Cone, feels this method is superior to blown crystal microdermabrasion.

What is microdermabrasion?

Microdermabrasion exfoliates the dead outer layer of the epidermis. The goal is to remove this dull, dead skin, allowing the younger, more vibrant skin beneath to show itself. In crystal microdermabrasion, tiny crystals are basically sandblasted onto the face, removing the outer layer. The problem is that the crystals can’t be used around delicate areas such as the eyes and mouth. Plus, they’re a mess both for the patient and the environment.

We use diamond-tip microdermabrasion. The tip exfoliates the top layer of the epidermis and the abraded skin cells are instantly vacuumed away with strong accompanying suction. Because we use the tip, we are able to use microdermabrasion to improve areas around the eyes and the mouth.

What skin problems does microdermabrasion improve?

We use microdermabrasion to improve a variety of skin problems. It…

  • Reduces fine lines and wrinkles
  • Reduces sun-damaged skin
  • Reduces age spots
  • Reduces melasma
  • Reduces hyperpigmentation
  • Improves acne and acne scarring
  • Reduces enlarged pores
  • Stimulates new collagen production

How is it done?

We start your session by cleaning your skin with a special gel. Then our aesthetician slowly moves the diamond-tipped wand across your entire face, instantly vacuuming off the abraded skin cells. How much exfoliation depends on the amount of suction applied, and the number of passes made over the skin surface. The entire procedure for the face takes from 20-30 minutes. If you want to include the neck, the session can last one hour. Topical numbing is not necessary.

How many treatments do I need?

This depends on your skin and the issues involved, but generally we recommend from six to 10 treatments initially, spaced two weeks apart. After that initial improvement, one session every two to three months keeps your skin looking fresh and vibrant.
