Should you update your skincare routine?

Moisturizing cream for clean and soft skin in winter time. Your skin is a lot different than it was when you were a teenager – hopefully how you take care of your skin has changed since then, too! If you are using the same products that you used way back then for your daily skincare routine – or if you don’t have a daily skincare routine at all – it may be time to do something about that.

Why do you need a skincare routine?

If your idea of taking care of your skin is washing your face whenever you remember to with whatever soap is handy, you should know that having an effective routine can make a big difference. As we age, our skin changes – but we can use the right products in the right way to make us look healthy and younger than our years.

A skincare routine doesn’t have to take a lot of time out of your day, and it doesn’t have to be expensive. Part of skincare is taking care of yourself, by eating right, drinking lots of water, and wearing sunscreen every time you go outside, even if it’s a cloudy day. After that

• Determine what kind of skin you have so that you can find the right products. Is your skin dry, normal, oily, or combination?

• It really does make a difference when you wash your face morning and night, to make sure it is clean of dirt, makeup, and oil.

• Use a toner after you wash your face to add nutrients to your skin. There are so many out there to choose from – try one with vitamins E and C, hyaluronic acid, or alpha and beta hydroxy acids.

• Moisturize! Moisturizing is important to hydrate and soften skin. Use moisturizer even if you think you shouldn’t because your skin is oily. And choose a moisturizing cream that is made specifically for nighttime wear, to repair any damage done to your skin during the day while you moisturize.
