Joining the Restylane family of products are Restylane Defyne and Refyne. These new dermal fillers, utilizing next generation XpresHAn technology, are designed to give you just the right amount of lift, yet allow the flexibility to show a range of facial expressions – allowing you to maintain your natural expressions and age naturally.
Restylane Defyne and Refyne are clear gel formulations of hyaluronic acid that is specifically formulated to act like your body’s own naturally produced hyaluronic acid, helping to instantly, visibly reduce moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds.
Hyaluronic acid (HA) is a naturally occurring substance found in your skin. As you age, you start to lose hyaluronic acid which causes the skin to lose structure and volume, contributing to the formation of wrinkles and folds.
Restylane Defyne and Refyne are hyaluronic acid, clear gels specifically designed for flexibility and to allow movement of the tissue to maintain natural facial expression. Using unique XpresHAn technology, these fillers move with your muscle movement. Each product gives lift along with the flexibility to show a range of facial expressions without looking unnatural.
Restylane Defyne and Refyne work immediately by adding volume to smooth away wrinkles. A clear gel formulation of hyaluronic acid, Restylane Defyne and Refyne are formulated to act like your body’s own hyaluronic acid, and eventually breaks down naturally.
Restylane Defyne and Refyne are for mid-to-deep injection into the facial tissue for the correction of moderate to severe deep facial wrinkles and folds.
The most common areas treated are:
- nose to mouth lines (the nasolabial folds)
- corners of the mouth
- corners of the mouth to the jawline (the melomental folds)
- laugh lines/smile lines
You can see results immediately although there is typically some swelling around the filler initially and this can take a few days to resolve and see the final result.
Restylane Defyne and Refyne typically last 9-12 months but this can vary from person to person.
Dr. Cone or Lisa Butler, RN will perform an initial consultation with you and review your medical history. If Restylane Defyne or Refyne is determined to be right for you, a topical numbing ointment will be applied to the treatment areas for 10 minutes. Restylane Defyne or Refyne will then be injected into the skin in small amounts and ice will be applied.
Is Restylane Safe?
Yes, Restylane Defyne and Refyne have been extensively studied and documented with comprehensive studies that support their safety and efficacy.
What Are The Side Effects Of Restylane?
After treatment, you might have some swelling, redness, pain, bruising, or tenderness. These are typically mild in severity and normally last less than 7 days. Swelling may be more likely in patients under 36 years, and bruising may be more likely in patients over 35 years.
How Should I Prepare For A Restylane Treatment Session?
Restylane Defyne and Refyne require no pretesting, but you should take a few precautions before being treated. Avoid using St. John’s Wort, high doses of Vitamin E supplements, aspirin, and other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medications, such as ibuprofen 5 days prior to treatment, because these may increase bruising or bleeding at the injection site. Also, if you have previously suffered from facial cold sores, discuss this with Dr. Cone or Lisa Butler, RN. Antiviral medication may be prescribed to prevent recurrences.
