What Is Clear & Brilliant Touch?
The Clear + Brilliant Touch laser is the comprehensive skin rejuvenation treatment for a fresh and youthful look! It improves the look of fine lines, pores, and skin texture, and is the perfect treatment for all ages, all skin types, all year long and with little to no downtime. This amazing treatment utilizes two wavelengths of fractional laser energy to treat the early signs of aging on the face, neck, chest, and hands.
Combining the original 1440 nm laser with the 1927 nm wavelength, these treatments create structural and functional changes to the skin and are ideal for those who want to get a head start on reversing the signs of aging!

The fractional 1440 nm laser creates hundreds of microscopic channels through the outer epidermis down into the dermis layer of the skin. This triggers a wound-healing reaction in the
skin, which improves the appearance of fine lines, overly large pores, and texture problems. It does this by remodeling existing collagen in the treated areas and triggering a boost in collagen production.
The Perméa 1927 nm wavelength works at a more superficial depth, targeting age spots and skin tone. This is similiar to Intense Pulsed Light treatments.
By combining these two wavelengths in one treatment, Clear + Brilliant Touch now has both a deeper dermis fractional component and a superficial pigmentation component to address multiple signs of aging and rejuvenate the skin.
Clear + Brilliant Touch can be used on all ages. While these treatments are ideal for younger women and men who want to stay ahead of the aging process, they are great for anyone. In the 20s and early 30s, these treatments can prevent early signs of aging. During the 30s and 40s, Clear + Brilliant Touch can maintain a youthful look and preserve the results from more significant resurfacing treatments like Deka Dot and Fraxel DUAL.
For 50s and older, these treatments can improve tone, texture, and the overall appearance of the skin. With little to no downtime, Clear + Brilliant Touch is also the ideal procedure for those with busy schedules and active lifestyles. Regular treatments won’t interfere with your day-to-day life and will help your skin stay healthy and young! And since Clear + Brilliant Touch isn’t invasive, these treatments are also ideal for those who want to rejuvenate their skin but aren’t ready for bigger resurfacing treatments.
These treatments yield noticeable results without being aggressive. Most of our patients describe a mild sensation of heat during their session. A topical numbing cream is applied for 15-20 minutes prior to treatment, making the treatment extremely comfortable. The device seamlessly switches between the Clear + Brilliant original mode and the Perméa mode, making for a quicker, more efficient treatment that delivers comprehensive results. After the treatment, medical-grade products and sunscreen are applied.
Any area of the body can be treated, but the most commonly treated areas are face, neck, chest, and hands.
You will see immediate results as some pigment will darken and begin to slough off, leading to an increase in clarity and brightness of the skin. From there, your results will continue to build as your skin creates new skin cells and as your collagen production ramps up. For best results, a series of 5-8 treatments spaced two to four weeks apart is recommended. This will continue to improve your skin for a period of months after your treatment.
Clear + Brilliant Touch treatments stimulate collagen production and lessen pigmentation leading to improvement in fine lines, sun damage, dull skin, large pores, melasma, and skin texture. Patients often notice smoother, more even-looking skin with a refreshed, radiant appearance.
Another benefit of these treatments is increased permeability of the skin resulting in 17X greater absorption of your topical products. Immediately after treatment, your provider will apply medical-grade Vitamin C and hyaluronic acid to maximize the benefits of this increase in skin permeability.
These are safe and effective treatments with temporary side effects that are generally quite mild and short lived. After a Clear + Brilliant Touch session you may have some redness across the treatment areas, some tenderness, and some slight swelling. These typically resolve within 24 hours. Your skin will usually have a slight sandpaper feel and mild dryness for several days after treatment. Gentle moisturizers are recommended during this period.
You should avoid prolonged sun exposure and tanning beds for at least a week prior to treatment and stop any irritants to your skin, such as products containing Retin A, retinol, benzoyl peroxide, glycolic/salicylic acids, or astringents for five days before your treatment. You should also avoid waxing or use of a depilatory on treatment areas for two weeks prior to treatment. If you have a history of cold sores, we recommend you take Valtrex during your therapy.
Individuals with an increased risk of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation should be pre-treated with a skin lightener for four weeks prior to treatment. Your provider will discuss this with you during your consultation and prescribe the appropriate pre-treatment regimen.
The treatment requires minimal healing time. As mentioned above, you will likely have some minor redness and possibly slight swelling on the treated areas. This passes within 24-48 hours. Your skin may feel sandpapery for a few days but other than this, there isn’t any downtime after Clear + Brilliant Touch. You can return to work and most normal activities immediately afterward.
We do, however, recommend avoiding exercise, hot tubs, and spas for at least 24 hours after treatment and avoiding direct sun exposure for at least a week after treatment. Sun protection is critical. A broad-spectrum sunscreen with a minimum SPF 30 is recommended daily. Tinted sunscreen can be applied immediately after treatment to cover any redness and makeup may be applied the following day.
After these treatments, new skin will start to form within about 24 hours, but it will still be covered by your existing old, superficial layer. Your skin’s natural exfoliation process will gradually remove the old skin and reveal the new skin triggered by this treatment. You need to let this happen on its own, so you should avoid scrubbing and other mechanical exfoliation. Conversely, you should apply moisturizers to keep your skin from becoming dry as the exfoliation occurs.
After Clear + Brilliant Touch, your skin will be more sensitive to sun exposure. You’ll need to avoid sun exposure and be sure to wear sunscreen with a 30+ SPF and protective clothing.
You can return to your normal skin care routine within 24-48 hours after your Clear + Brilliant Touch treatment but avoid the use of retinoids for one week after your session. How Many Clear + Brilliant Touch Treatments Will I Need? Most of our AesthetiSpa patients see the results they seek after 5-6 treatments. Once you have this series, many patients opt for maintenance treatments every few months to preserve their skin improvement and to further stay ahead of their visible signs of aging. Clear + Brilliant Touch is also a great way to maintain results from more aggressive resurfacing treatments like Deka Dot and Fraxel DUAL.
Yes. While many laser treatments aren’t recommended during the hot Charleston summers, Clear + Brilliant Touch treatments are well suited for the summer since they are not aggressive. As mentioned above, you just need to avoid sun exposure and the use of tanning beds for a minimum of one week before and after treatments and wear a broad-spectrum sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher.
The following are contraindications to treatment:
- History of keloid formation or excessive scarring
- Known sensitivity to light or if photosensitizing agents or medications are being taken
- Unprotected sun exposure for 2-4 weeks prior to treatment
- Use of Retin A, retinols, glycolic/salicylic acids, or scrubs/exfoliants within 5 days
- Conditions that compromise the immune system (HIV, lupus, scleroderma, systemic infections)
- Rosacea, active infections, cold sores, open wounds, rashes, burns, inflammation, eczema, psoriasis
- Use of Accutane within 6-12 months
You should allow at least a week after microneedling and chemical peels before having a Clear + Brilliant Touch treatment. Botox, Xeomin, Dysport and Dermal Filler treatments should be spaced two weeks before and after Clear + Brilliant Touch and a month should be allowed after Deka Dot and Fraxel DUAL.
Yes, you can combine Clear + Brilliant Touch with hydrafacials and also with IPL, Sculptra, and Thermage on the same day. During your consultation, your provider will determine if these combinations are right for you.
